Luke’s on his way to the police station, to admit that he’s been keeping tabs on everyone still present in town, even though that’s pretty illegal when the government isn’t doing it. He wants to share his information about the abrupt cut off from the digital foot print of the missing ones, he wants to – honestly he just wants to be patted on his back and be told that he’s doing fine, that he’s useful. No matter how often people tell each other that electronics and AI will take over the world, it’s not what they think of when in times of need.
Not that he cares what people think right now, and maybe that’s a first. He hates that for all his smartness and magic he can’t find Kat, can’t find Kim and pinpoint all the others. They disappeared into a black hole and unless Luke trips on it, he’ll never find them. So much for being the boy genius.
There’s a heavy fog pulling up, and Luke gets his phone out navigate before walking into something and knocking himself out. It’s when his phone starts to fade that he looks up, trying to get a grip on how insane this fog is. “Oh, come on now, what’s this.” His material never gives up, not like this. Which means ..
“Bother hell.”
