Luke’s on his way to the police station, to admit that he’s been keeping tabs on everyone still present in town, even though that’s pretty illegal when the government isn’t doing it. He wants to share his information about the abrupt cut off from the digital foot print of the missing ones, he wants to – honestly he just wants to be patted on his back and be told that he’s doing fine, that he’s useful. No matter how often people tell each other that electronics and AI will take over the world, it’s not what they think of when in times of need.

Not that he cares what people think right now, and maybe that’s a first. He hates that for all his smartness and magic he can’t find Kat, can’t find Kim and pinpoint all the others. They disappeared into a black hole and unless Luke trips on it, he’ll never find them.   So much for being the boy genius.

There’s a heavy fog pulling up, and Luke gets his phone out navigate before walking into something and knocking himself out. It’s when his phone starts to fade that he looks up, trying to get a grip on how insane this fog is. “Oh, come on now, what’s this.” His material never gives up, not like this.  Which means ..
“Bother hell.”

"Almost seventy years old and my son is finally bringing someone home", Wilfred Nimes had joked.
"What does Davin like best, for eating, I mean", his mother had tried. "Can you maybe not eat veganistic for one night? Or do you want something more like a buffet? Why didn't you invite him over for Thanksgiving, it would be so much easier to decide what to make. Everyone likes turkey!"

Luke had threatened to cancel the dinner, that he just wanted a FRIEND to come over, that they were the ones always begging to know more about his life. That he didn't want them to terrify Davin with nonsense stories about marriage and children and future. "He's just a friend", he had repeated about four times. "Don't scare him."

His parents had promised to behave. Had admitted that they were just so happy that he met someone, that it didn't matter how serious or not serious at all this was. But did he know that more and more states allowed same sex couples adopting now? Luke had been ready to blow a vessel, when his parents started laughing. "We have Python as a grandchild, relax a little."
"You're so adorable when you're nervous", his mother had added.

And tonight was the night, and Luke was bundled up inside his room until he heard the doorbell. Heard his parents giggle and move around like a couple of kids. Heard how incredibly happy they were with this stupid little thing. Maybe he should just continue pretending a bit longer.

"Luke! Come save Davin from us before we give him the third degree, won't you, son?!"

Here it goes.

Luke had to explain to his parents that Python was fed, that he had a few pieces of duck on him in case he got distracted, that he was going to go to the end of the beach where not much people came and that he had his catch-snare with him in case Python grew a new character and went demonic.

He promised to give them hourly updates about both himself and his snake and just felt a little bit bad about declining to tell them he had invited Kat. His father might pop a vessel.

And here he was now, snake around his waist and shoulder, trying to untie his shoes while Python was squeezing him with excitement. Or nerves, probably picking them up from Luke.

"Yes, yes", he mumbles. "In a minute. I'm not going to walk into the ocean in my Stella's, Py. You will have to be patient, for once."

ooc: Find Luke at the end of the beach, covered in snake!

Tomorrow morning I'm flying to Ireland for a two week holiday and the internet won't be - for a change - a top priority. I'm finishing existing threads but won't start any new ones the next two weeks.

Luke will just be around town, having lunch at the Italian restaurant and helping people with their gadgets, on the down low ;)

  • Shared histories?
  • Past (friendly) relationships?
  • Plans for the future?
I'm really looking for the childhood love-interest (can be younger or older), the "Terry"/bully-figure, people Luke helped with fixing bicycles, computers, and so on, friendlies who kept an eye on his parents while Luke was gone, (ex-)bullies, people that will go house hunting with him and anything else you can come up with of course.

CHARACTER NAME: Marshall Lucas Nimes CHARACTER AGE: 24 SPECIES:Witch BACKGROUND & HISTORY: Wilfred and Tania Nimes were 45 and 39 when they got their first and only child, Marshall. He was unexpected and very much wanted and it was solely for his demure and shy character that he didn’t turn out to be a complete brat, because gosh, did they work hard to give him everything he wanted.Wilfred’s parents lived in Siren Cove and after a travel around during his adolescent years along the East Coast, finding Tania in Charlotte, North Carolina, and bringing her home at twenty-seven. There was just such a welcoming vibe to this place. Tania was fascinated by the old stories about the town, and slightly skeptical about the existence of magic until her son turned out to be a witch. Which was wonderful, of course. Both of them thought everything their son did was wonderful. That’s why it broke their hearts when he turned out to be bullied throughout his school career. As a shy, mixed-race teacher’s pet with glasses and braces, he was an easy target. It didn’t matter that at the age of eight he discovered he could see how things were connected and therefore could fix everything from bicycles to microwaves, he was an outsider and an easy target. The secret attention popular kid Terry started to give him when they were both 13 just gave Marshall another layer to an image he didn’t want. Terry liked to kiss him. Marshall wasn’t sure if he liked it, but he liked how Terry made sure that Marshall wasn’t bullied that much (the bullying was directed to another sad victim from then on). And although Marshall didn’t really understand why anyone would want to kiss him (while he just wanted to kiss the girl he’s been in love with since 11), it wasn’t bad. A curious experience. When Marshall made the mistake of telling his parents that he was kissing Terry a lot, they drew the wrong conclusion that they’re little boy had just came out to them. But he was their son and whatever he did was wonderful and wasn’t it amazing that he dared tell his parents so easily? Whenever – over the years – Marshall tried to tell them that that period was definitely a time of experimenting, he got shushed and said that he really didn’t have to hide his identity for them. At eighteen Marshall gathered all his courage and went to ask for a job at Heart of Gold. Not because he expected people would want to sleep with him and yikes, how could he even do that, but he had heard that escort service was just offering company as well. And his parents were getting old, extra money would always be welcome. It didn’t last long, Marshall was too uncomfortable with about everything. At nineteen, with three offers from three different offers from Sillicon Valley companies, he moved to California. With his talents he participated in creating several gadgets, programs and search engines. At twenty, Marshall was a millionaire. At twenty one, he got his first girlfriend, one of those women that thought they could “save” homosexuals. On the way she gave him a make over and lessons about the stock exchange. Seeing connections help a lot with being successful there .. California had been great for four years, but really, Marshall (although he has started calling himself Luke now) is a son of his parents and he missed them. He wants them to share in with his wealth, wants to do his part for Siren Cove. Siren Cove didn't work out as well as expected, and - leaving behind friends and loved ones - Luke moved on. Only to return again, with a new friend in tow, who just wouldn't shut up about discovering the place where Luke came from. Yeah, Eddy is a special guy. PERSONALITY: Luke is an ugly duckling who doesn’t really believe that he’s been turned into quite a nice swan. This doesn’t mean he’s a grumpy hermit, he lives on other people’s smiles. He is a soft, gentle giant who will always put his parents first, loves to meet new people, can lose days of his time on a new challenge and thinks the world would be a better place if people would get to know “the other” better. The only “blemish” on his perfect son record is his love for very morbid humor and his “picky” eating: Luke’s diet is vegan. OPINION OF THE RIVALRY: Luke understands that witches can be weary of humans, but doesn’t think that a town should have been built on a rivalry. LIFESTYLE: Luke’s looking for a home right now, until he found one he’s living with his parents in a small house near the town borders. His hobbies are programming, writing games and extensions in Python/JavaScript/C++ and so on. He also likes to cycle everywhere, at high speed. Luke has two things he calls his quirks: one – he views odd numbers always as positive, two: he’s addicted to making hot chocolate by pouring hot milk over dark chocolate. POWERS & ABILITIES: He calls himself a techwitch, but really, Luke can see the connection in everything that exists out of any kind of mechanism. Animal and human bodies are tougher, but he’s sure that if he’d study on it, he could recognize an error in a body as well. Right now he’s just very much about machines..
